Test runs in an English summer

G Ballance 104*,74,71,110,104* - 463 runs already, any chance of Hammond's 905? (By the way, Cooky 2nd in that list with 766)

Too Much Water
He's got a few scores of 20 odd so probably already above 500 runs

Doctor K
Fair play to Cook yesterday, a great innings under pressure, rode his luck but took his opportunity.

Cheeky to post on here but will give it a go - I have been given a signed authenticated picture of the English v Sri Lanka T20 team photo from ECB to raffle/auction for a fundraising event I am doing. If anyone is interested please pm. Mandy

Was Hammond's for a single series? Gooch scored 1058 (0,85,37,154,30,333,123,116,7,85,88) in the summer tests of 1990 against India and New Zealand. I don't know if that is the record, I just checked Gooch as it was an amazing summer.

Hammond's was for just 5 tests in the Ashes 1929 Series. Goochy is 4th on the list with 752 in 1990 but in only 3 Tests, so average wise scored more per test than Hammond!

OK, so yours is a single series score - hence Gooch did score more runs in a summer than Hammond - 6 tests in 1990. Note then that Ballance's first few scores in your list were against SL, so he's only in the 300s for this single series against India.
