TRO Testeur dégoûtant
Pity your not Paul Downton Doctor K - who described Moores as the 'best coach of his generation'. Like you I am wondering what the evidence for this is with either Lancs as you say, from his first p&ss poor stint with England or now in the early days of this his second stab at it.

Always had a soft spot for Mr Downton, remember him opening the batting ref the W Indies at Edbagston - basically cuz everyone was scared to and sticking it out!

Simply no options - Bell cant hit the ball off the square and Root is to young to have the pressure of captaincy ... Anderson, Broad are not captain material.

Doctor K
I'd give Morgan a go for whatever matches there are left if Cook actually goes -as Botham said the winter is purely limited over stuff and Morgan is captain then anyway so giving him the captaincy for a test or two won't do any more damage than is being done at the moment.

Back to Lancs -this season they're doing well in the 20/20 comp but qualified for the quarters last year too.
At the longer game I've scoured the squad and can't come up with one English player who might have a chance of making the test team -apart from Kerrigan of course - the only consistent performer is Glen Chappell -who is 38 and now player coach -he's the best bowler of the lot and at that age a non starter.

Joss Buttler has only been with Lancs since the spring so you can't really count him as a Lancs product.

Morgan is a good shout. Wonder if we could tempt a certain Ashes winning Geraint Jones to come back to the fold - Papua New Guinea are a good team but could do with his runs and he never let us down

Morgan doesn't warrant a spot in the team. Next test drop Stoakes and play Jordan - he didn't deserve to be dropped anyway.

I'd have done something totally leftfield for the short term. Foster in as keeper-captain.

*Just back from France, saw the test from there. Bloody awful - especially on first morning and last session*

I'd have been equally happy with Read or Foster as keeper-captain. Bringing in Buttler seems to be missing the point that we need to take more wickets and take more catches...
