Beach cricket.
I used to pepper my younger brother with bouncers in our back garden then dismiss him with a bit of leg spin. Sure the old magic is still there.

Cricket weekends, 1990s: Sandal vs Scarborough, RUFCs. Drinks & curry on Saturday; under canvas in a field in Scalby; bleary eyed and blinking at the sun on Sunday morning. Downbeat cricket; agricultural pitch and technique to match.
Happy times...

Absolutely stoked for Aotearoa today. I love all of them and a great way for Watling and The World's Smallest Samoan to finish.
Incredibly tense listening to that in the car but the worst was out of the way by the time I got home to the TV. Fell asleep for an hour afterwards.
What a team. To go from that awful 2009ish side with Vettori as best batsman, best bowler, and captain is absolutely outstanding stuff.

Apparently Ross Taylor also has two test wickets. I have absolutely no recollection of ever having seen him bowl.

I was worried about not having a spinner though (Williamson doesn't count). Always play a spinner, as the lads at KingCricket say.

Sandal RUFC? Very tough outfit. Well, the girls section certainly are. Never seen them play in anything other than torrential rain on a mud bath though.

Yep, that's an accurate assessment, Nico! The ground is 30m above sea level, close to the Calder, both river and canal.

They always bring a massive TRO type rain cloud with them when they come to Long Eaton
