I Just had a blinding flash of inspiration.
Mark Nicholas, there's be a queue, like there was in Airplane.

Does Nicholas count as an international (B tours only, I think)? Or have we moved on to a free-for-all, any cricketer?
In which case, the Great Shefford wicketkeeper.

England A, Zimbabwe, quite close, luckily they noticed he was average, otherwise he would be really unbearable if actually played for England.

Against average county bowlers on flat tracks he looked brilliant, as soon as there was a bit of spice in the pitch or a decent bowler or two in the opposition ranks he generally went missing. Came from 'the right sort of background' so had friends in high places, the England hierarchy at the time would have loved him to be good enough, I'm sure!

If we're having 'any cricketer' then Giles Coren needs to go on the list.

I'd be at the front of the Mark Nicolas queue. With those dagger shoes off of James Bond.

I used to work with a hard-drinking, plain-speaking Scotsman (I know) who met Nicholas once at a Hampshire function. I don't need to tell you the word he used to describe him.
