I have another. Not on telly but it sticks in my head. headingly, 1984 v WI, West Stand, Gower dropped a catch off of Pringle. Some wit shouted rather vehemently, 'You soft Southern bastards' |

Being invited into the headmaster's office when i was 10, expecting a telling off for some misdemeanour or even a caning. Instead he told me to take a chair and we watched Fred Trueman take 7 - 91 v West Indies. (i'd taken my entrance exams for grammar school by then and so wasn't doing much academically). espncricinfo.com |

Dad was always a fan of a paceman with his tail up. He loved Bob Willis too, and perhaps surprisingly John Snow.

Yes Oscar, and that from a Lancastrian who resented him as he only gave his autograph to the lad who carried his bag from his car to the pavillion. (Maybe he only did that at Old Trafford).
