Given these are usually played in bowler friendly conditions any Bairstow runs will count for a lot. Will obviously depend on how well the team does without him but there is definitely a way back for him next season if he commits. Even if he goes to the IPL and doesnt play County cricket in the early season, Ed Smith has previously picked Buttler based on IPL runs.

You don't need two keepers in the team. It also allows for curran to get in. Don't agree with the NZ tests not being important. If you do well. You keep your place.

I think the forecast is good for the last 2 days and reasonable for today although I live 4 miles up the road and there is a lot of rain on the hills around Taunton. Potentially still 200 plus overs left in the game so more than possible to see a result. For what it's worth, I actually think that Somerset are just a bit short of championship material this year. The difference that a Matt Renshaw would have made to the top order would have probably tipped the balance.
