Who would be a umpire...........they did it right by will no doubt end up being criticised.

Clearly the laws are an ass.

(I have maximum respect for Aleem Dar as an umpire)

From what I hear on tms, the umpires had no choice. It's the rule that's wrong, not the umpire.

Unsatisfactory end to an enthralling day. The bad light and slow over rate laws need serious amending.

For all of Woakes shortcomings as a bowler, he deserves a run at number 6. Looked calm and composed in that critical situation. No one else has looked convincing since Collingwood retired, so why not?

I'd have taken 3-0 at the start of the summer, especially since we haven't been anywhere near our best.

Unfair to boo Clarke. He should be applauded for making today a contest.

Clarke wanted it to finish right there, but there you go rulea are ruls, seemed fair enough to stop it.

Nice to win 3-0. Great attacking declaration by Clarke and we would've chased it down but for the most stupid 'bad light' rule ever. Bad light really isn't dangerous (as Bumble says, 'show me the coffins!')...I would be simple to go back to offering the light to the batsmen. If the light its a bit difficult for the fielding side, tough.

Woakes did well; I think he was exposed as the third seamer, but if Kerrigan had been Tremlett, he'd have been fine as fourth seamer. He also now has a Test batting average of 42...

Kararchi in 2000. England win with it being nearly pitch black. The batsmen were happy to stay out so the umpires let them. Common sense is all you need, not regulations.

If they do want to make a regulation, if there are floodlights, bad light shouldn't be an issue.
