On the general subject of mediocrity, this is an excellent article on possible things to come. We can't rely on this current golden generation forever unfortunately (Cook, Trott, Pieterson, Bell, Prior, Broad, Swann and Anderson)

Cricket and sport is always like that, which is why you must try players out to see if they can cut it. I think there are players coming through, especially at yourkshire. Aussies probelm is all the greats went together, I think England are making a stab are introducing people when we are winning so they can cover that. You ae right though. I suspect Anderson has 2 or 3 years left, same for Swann, blimey we will miss Swann. Cook too, 4 years as captain, max.....so only a couple of years left, After winning the Ashes next time at home, he'll be gone. |

To redress the balance, how about some mediocre Australians?

Funny how the introduction of two hapless debutants fills everyone with dread for the future of English cricket. Selectors dropped a huge rick with these two, no question but as WS says it is generally accepted that we have some good talent coming through and a decent structure that gives them a good shout of making it. The days of Min Patel are long gone....:-) |
