Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

JR - you're saying these things (repeatedly) as though no-one understands. I get it, and I'm sure the vast majority of people posting here do so as well. We are all trying to balance looking after our loved ones and the social responsibility of dealing with the pandemic.

It's getting to sound like the speeding discussion again in here.

That nasty government restricting what speed we can drive at.
It's too confusing - all those different types of road have different speed limits.
Why can't I judge what's safe?
If others don't like it, or it feels too risky, let them stay at home.

I was just framing a post along the same lines. You've put it much more eloquently. Thanks Fetch - well said.

If only there was a middle ground between visiting parents all the time and abandoning them!
Like, say, phoning them a lot, and showing up in person if there’s a problem where the risk clearly outweighs the COVID risk.

When will people leave behind the culture of me, me, me. It's not about you. It's about everybody.

What if we could actually properly know whose behaviour had done what. What if JR's choices over this period had caused no transmission and others on here taking the high ground had infected others.

Does that change anyone's views?

I'd like to know if the local lockdowns are based on science/fact/knowledge of transmission routes, or total stab in the dark "it must be *those* people doing *that*?

but this is why guidance changes as we get to know more about the risks of different actions
