Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

JR, that’s correct I don’t have family abroad and it’s still possible to have a normal life without that.

Use furlough money to help the vulnerable to stay home to shield if they choose to & let the rest of us get back to living before there is nothing left to live for. Personally my job has not been impacted but it is breaking my heart to see friends & acquaintances having their livelihoods ruined.

Fragile - What about the many many people living in Australia who have family outside of Australia & are not allowed to visit them. Do you think that’s acceptable?

JR - I was responding to your comment that it’s not normal not to go abroad, I said nothing about whether or not it’s acceptable.

My brother lives in Japan and would love to come over to see dad (and his son who is at school here). Unfortunately the current rules in Japan will make it very hard for him to return to Japan if he leaves.

JR what makes you think I’m pro the restrictions? I will adhere to the requirements placed on me to protect the vulnerable while doing the best I can to make the most of what we do have and can do. I’m deeply saddened and actually quite stressed about the new restrictions and threat of it being extended but at the end I want to still have my family and friends here to share the future with.

We need people to be sensible and do what we need to do so we can open up and live with less restrictions. But what is clearly happening is people just thinking it is not their problem / they’re not affected, while spreading the virus further. Cases are rising across the world and halting the spread now will help longer term.

Sweden has done so well because people are doing the right thing.
