Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I'm over half way through The Trouble With Goats And Sheep and it is really very good.

I've only come across one more anomaly to bug me: the author has a character complain that she is missing Emmerdale Farm on a Saturday evening in December 1967, when the programme only started in 1972, and was on on weekday afternoons. Am I picky, or is this the sort of thing editors, proof, and beta readers ought to pick up?

Nemo: definitely, see theguardian.com
An awful lot of similarities, but enough originality that it works well.

(The really freaky Secret History reference is where what are obviously the characters from that book turn up to a party in one of Bret Easton Ellis' novels, which was published before the Secret History. Ellis was good friends with Tartt and had read the manuscript in progress.)

I am still undecided about my thoughts on the way American Psycho ended. Has it ever been BOTM or had a discussion thread? I would love to trade views on the book with others but don't want to introduce spoilers on here for folk who have not read it yet.
