Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

No photos but I did successfully make gluten-free pastry on Saturday. For a savoury pie I used half white gluten-free flour and half buckwheat flour; it was a bit more crumbly than I'm used to but worked fine. Then for lemon tart I used just ordinary white GF flour. It was a nightmare to handle, but that's probably more because it was a rich pastry, with more butter than shortcrust and bound with an egg yolk.

Gf pastry is very difficult to handle sallykate. I bet your friend was appreciative.

Yes - she asked for the recipe for the savoury thing ( theguardian.com ) thinking she might make one at Christmas. Luckily for the lemon tart I'd decided to make little individual ones, so didn't have to grapple with lining a big tin.

I really appreciate anyone making the effort to prepare gf food for me sallykate. My MiL is very good with the pastry, she uses an old Phil Vickery recipe. I was never great at ordinary pastry and have no confidence with gf.

anyone made protein bars?
thinking of ways to save money and potentially be "healthier" when I have more free time next month!!
(Also thinking I need to plan something sweeter into my diet and therefore I might not lose the plot and eat all the biscuits!)

I have this book:

amazon.co.uk

But can't remember if I tried / liked any of the protein bars in it. She has some example recipes on her website:

powerhungry.com

Not much of a recommendation, but perhaps a start.
