Kids need to have comfortable shoes at school that they can climb, run, and ride bikes in. End of.
I wasn't very happy that our school in Scotland made them keep their shoes on all day as they had nowhere to store them but at least they didn't care too much as long as they were faintly black.

I approve of the social media campaign about girl's Clark's shoes being inadequate for running around in. I remember my mother buying me blue shoes when the school policy was for black shoes only. I felt obvious and uncomfortable for half a year. As a mother now, I totally understand my mother's insistence on buying whatever was cheapest and fitted since our feet were growing so fast she'd be back buying shoes within about 5 minutes!

Dark grey counts as faintly black. Also dark blue, dark green, mostly black.

I kind of get uniforms (though don't agree with them) but they must be flexible on shoes and allow kids to be comfortable. Includimþnf trainers.

Kids all in socks at school her which does mean having to be vigilant as to the state of their socks :-o

I have just decided to cancel all my planned races for the rest of the year. I need to get back to basics and be able to run 4 times a week. So for now short slow runs are in order for 2 weeks.

Well done to all who run, walk or crawled today :)

About This Thread

Welcome to the 700 miles in 2018 thread, everybody welcome :-)

The thread motto is:

'700 miles is neither necessary nor sufficient'

All you have to do is run about 1.91 miles per day or 13.46 miles per week or 58.33 miles per month and take a picture when you get to 700 miles of either you or the spot you reached the target or both if you want to. And if you go under or over 700 miles nobody will mind.

Join in the chat on the friendliest thread around - all things discussed and sometimes even some running is talked about.

Next year's spreadsheet can be found here - let's fill it up
