Well done to everyone who achieved the 1500 miles, and to everyone who didn't better luck next year and I hope you still enjoyed your running. I got to 1320, but as I got injured in March and only did 47 in May and 68 in July it was a tall order to make it up. I've loved being on the thread and will keep an eye on yous in jono's super duper new thread but I'm not going to set any targets at all next year, just aiming to enjoy my running.
Happy new year to everyone, and a million thanks to The Terminator for his thread organising wishing you all the best for your amazing challenge THIS year
Good luck jono! You'll be fine! x

Brave Manchester women embark on epic 1500-mile Tuk-Tuk journey in aid of cancer charity June 28, 2012
Three brave Manchester women are taking to Britain’s roads tomorrow in a 1500 mile cancer charity auto-rickshaw ride. Joanne Flitcroft, Hannah Reeves and Nicole Xodo are embarking on their 10-day journey, which stretches the length and breadth of the country, in aid of Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention. Joanne, who was diagnosed with breast cancer just a year ago, said she wanted to give back to the charity. She said: “Following my treatment for breast cancer, I wanted to do something to help and support Genesis. After discounting all the sensible options, I came up with this.” The Pink Ribbon Rickshaw, which can reach maximum speeds of 35mph, will venture as far afield as Edinburgh, Cardiff and London. At each stage they will complete challenges, including a military-style rifle range challenge at Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire. Joanne added: “We’ve already had a fantastic amount of encouragement from people in Manchester and hope we’ll receive a similar reception when we stop off at cities around the UK.” They have been promised a £500 donation if they get a photo with a member of parliament in the three capitals they pass through. And now for the 2012 Hall of Fame, AKA ‘The Tuk-tuks’

Stowaway cat makes 1,500 mile trip from Romania to Suffolk… on its OWN November 29, 2012 A stowaway cat has stunned vets after making a 1,500 mile journey from Romania to Suffolk – on its own. The wandering moggy, called Mimi, was taken to a rescue centre after she was found purring and pawing at the door of a home owner. Vets then scanned her Microchip to locate her owner and were shocked to discover she was registered as living in Romania. Mimi was then put into quarantine before being passed into the care of Framlingham and Saxmundham branch of Cats Protection. The cat’s carers believe she hid in the back of a lorry and crossed five countries across the width of mainland Europe before she arrived in Britain. Animal experts have ruled out Mimi belonging to immigrants after an extensive poster campaign to try and find her owners in the area popular with migrant workers. Framlingham is in an area frequently passed through by lorries en route to Eastern Europe. Irene Mulley who has been looking after Mimi said: “We don’t know how she arrived in Suffolk. “She may have entered legally, but we have no way of knowing.” The charity is now appealing for someone to give her a good home.

Boy, 11, stows away on flight from Manchester to Rome with no passport 26 Jul 2012 A government inquiry is under way after an 11-year-old schoolboy, Liam Corcoran, flew from one of the country’s busiest airports to Europe on his own without a passport, ticket or boarding pass. Liam slipped away from his mother at a shopping centre three miles from Manchester Airport, before successfully catching flight LS791 to Rome after a series of blunders by staff. The schoolboy, from Newall Green, Wythenshawe, Manchester, passed through several security checkpoints before boarding the Jet2.com flight. The captain was only alerted to his extra passenger when holidaymakers raised concerns shortly into the two hour journey. Liam's 1,500 mile "adventure" ended on Tuesday night when he returned to Britain unharmed, and escorted by staff, and was reunited with his worried family. Speaking yesterday, Liam said: “Getting on the plane was easier than doing my homework. I didn’t have anything on me and no one asked me for anything. They smiled at me when I went through.” In our 1000 to 1250 category here are the ‘Jet Setters’:

Mekong River Journey 17 December 2012 A Nature Conservancy scientist travels to the 'Mother of all Waters' For winter break, Jeff Opperman and his family are embarking on a conservation journey. It's known as the "Mother of Water."
As the 12th longest river in the world, the mighty Mekong River indeed nourishes many. It supports the largest freshwater fish harvest in the world, providing the primary source of protein to more than 50 million people as it runs its course through six countries, including Laos, China, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. The river's creatures sound like the stuff of fantasy novels – freshwater dolphins, giant stingrays (as big as your living room!) and 400-pound catfish. But they're real, and they face an uncertain future. In December, Nature Conservancy scientist Jeff Opperman will take his family on a 1,500-mile journey along this incredible river. He'll bring his wife and two children, including 10-year-old Luca and 8-year-old Wren, who, though excited, is also concerned about missing a traditional Christmas at home – palm trees and curry instead of snow and turkey.
Finally, we have the ton-down group, ‘The Navigators’:
