I always think the same, that I have done more than I have. Given that I started 11 years ago, I ought to have done better!!

Well that makes me feel a bit better. I suspect that pbs are not going to be very regular any more and I really like a marathon distance as 4 hours effort (give or take) is very honest... I am hoping to get to 50 in my 50th year but I will be lacking a couple from this year so will have to get a bit of a wriggle on in the next couple of years (1972 model. Very inflexible, dreadful turning circle)

I get where you're coming from except I'm an even older model - add 10 years to your vintage, and most of the time I count it as a win if my time starts with a 4, it's more often than not a 5 nowadays! That's why i love the SVN events - no one cares about your time!

Remember, there's no time limit on how long it takes to achieve this. There are a lot of people around at the moment getting very antsy because they've not had a "counting" marathon since March and they're beating themselves up because they're falling behind their own target. That way lies injury and a loss of enjoyment.
This is one destination where the journey is the important bit to enjoy above all else.
I set myself an arbitrary time-limited goal based on a landmark birthday, and from that point on I lost sight of the journey, and entered any old nonsense around balancing lakes in roundabout-heavy commuter-belt cities just to tick off another number.
In my case matters were expedited by the fact that I'd impregnated my wife and I couldn't afford the time to be in Milton Keynes for a weekend every month.
I'm enjoying my running a lot more now I pick and choose the races I do.

Good point... if a little careless

Interesting change of viewpoint, DeeGee and very sensible. My target of reaching 100 by my 65th birthday in 2021 has been derailed by injury and all the current nonsense this year and I probably need to be sensible and find a change of perspective and a more relaxed approach.
Bizarrely however, I do enjoy running round lakes in Milton Keynes, not to mention off-season caravan parks in old seaside resorts on the east coast, so I suspect I will just go with a postponement to my 66th birthday, when I finally get to claim my state pension (6 years of which were stolen from me by the government, but I'm not enraged and bitter about that, no, not at all).

I should also perhaps not have taken 32 years off between my first and second marathons, that might have helped.

I think I've seen you on the sub 3:30 thread as well Oscar and if you still have that in mind I would take a relaxed approach to the 100. There are some who can knock out fast times while running marathons every week but it's not an approach which I think will work for most.
