Leigh Harriers were formed in September of 1909 and have an unbroken record of providing athletics for all the community. Achieved Community Amateur Sports Club status in 2006.
On Saturday the club became one of only four clubs in the Greater Manchester area to be awarded Club Mark Accreditation. Leigh Harriers are part of the Sports Village Project and will be transferring to the new track and club house in September of 2007 to what will be a top class facility - comparable to Robin Park.
For women looking to get fit/run with other women training takes place on a Monday night at 7.00pm. This is a long run (30 - 60 minutes, depending on ability).

For children of primary school age (5 - 13) training takes place from 6.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For information contact
For children of high school/college age and adults, training takes place from 7.00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
There will be a long/middle distance group that either stay on the track or run to various locations in the leigh area to do reps (for example: 6x800m).
